Wood fence around a yard, fence company serving Hendersonville, TN
Fences

Fence Company in Hendersonville, TN

Privacy and yard fences set straight and built to last, with solid posts, clean lines and gates that latch.

A fence is only as straight as its posts

Boards and pickets are the part you see. The part that decides whether the fence still stands in ten years is underground: how deep the posts are set, how well they are anchored, and whether the line was laid out with a string and a level instead of by eye. A cheap fence leans within a few seasons. A well-built one stays put.

Soil matters in Middle Tennessee. Much of the area sits on heavy clay that swells when it is wet and shrinks when it dries, and spring rains keep the ground soft. Posts need proper depth and drainage around them, and wood needs to be a type that tolerates ground contact. We plan for those conditions on every line.

We build fences to enclose a backyard, give a deck privacy, or hold in pets and kids. If a fence is part of a bigger outdoor project, see how our deck builders and concrete walkways tie into the same yard.

Reasons homeowners call for a fence

  • You want privacy from a neighboring yard, a street or a busy road.
  • Children or pets need a safe enclosed space.
  • An old fence leans, has rotted posts or has boards missing.
  • You want to mark a property line or separate a yard from a wooded or open area.
  • A new deck, patio or garden needs an edge and some shelter.
  • A gate that drags, will not latch or has pulled away from its post.

How we build a fence

  1. Walk the line

We go over the route with you, confirm the property line, discuss style, height and gate locations, and check for obstacles such as trees and slopes.

  2. Locate utilities and lay out

Underground utilities are marked before digging, a step Tennessee 811 handles, and the fence line is strung and measured so posts land where they should.

  3. Set the posts

Holes are dug to depth and posts set plumb in concrete, then allowed to cure so the line stays true.

  4. Rails and pickets

Rails are attached, then pickets or boards go on with consistent spacing and a level top, following slopes in steps or a smooth rise as agreed.

  5. Gates and finishing

Gates are hung square with hardware that holds, and we clean up the line and talk about sealing or staining the wood.

What affects the cost of a fence

Fences are priced by the linear foot and the details. We quote after walking the line.

Length of the fence

More linear feet mean more posts, rails and pickets.

Height and style

A six-foot privacy fence uses more material than a shorter picket-style fence.

Terrain

Slopes, roots, rocky ground and low wet spots add time and change how posts are set.

Gates

Each gate adds hardware, framing and labor, and wider gates need stronger posts.

Removing an old fence

Taking down and hauling away an existing fence is an added step.

Wood type and finishing

Different woods and any sealing or staining affect the material cost and upkeep.

Why homeowners choose us for fences

We build for the long haul. Straight lines, posts set to depth and gates that still latch after a few seasons are what we aim for, and we explain how we get there rather than just quoting a price.

You can fold fence work into other projects. If you are building a deck or pouring a walkway, doing the fence with the same crew saves coordination and keeps the yard on one schedule.

Where we do this work

We build fences in Hendersonville, Goodlettsville, Gallatin and nearby neighborhoods.

Questions about fences

Do I need a permit to build a fence?

It depends on your city or county and on the height and location. Many HOAs also have their own rules. Check requirements before we start, and we can help you ask the right questions.

Who finds the property line?

The property owner is responsible for knowing where the line is, and a survey is the surest way to be certain. We build to the line you identify and talk through anything that looks unclear.

How do you avoid hitting underground utilities?

Underground lines must be located and marked before digging. In Tennessee, that is done by calling 811 ahead of time, and we plan the schedule around it.

How deep are the posts set?

Deep enough to hold in your soil and the height of the fence. Taller privacy fences need deeper posts because wind pushes on them like a sail. We set depth for the specific job.

How do I keep a wood fence from rotting?

Keep soil and vegetation from piling against the boards, make sure water drains away from the posts and seal or stain the wood on a schedule. We will tell you what fits your fence.

Can you repair part of an existing fence?

Yes. Replacing posts, rails or sections and re-hanging gates is common, and we tell you honestly if the fence is past the point where repair makes sense.
